Generator Servicing & Maintenance on the West Rand
Generator servicing and maintenance on the West Rand, from Krugersdorp homes and estates to Chamdor workshops, Randfontein and Westonaria plant, and plots where the set also drives a borehole pump. Many of these generators start heavy motors and breathe gravel-road dust, so a West Rand service checks starting loads and air filters as closely as the oil. Visits are booked for a time that suits you, and breakdowns go through West Rand generator repairs.

Krugersdorp to Westonaria
Motor loads, dust and long running hours
The West Rand runs from Krugersdorp’s suburbs and security estates, such as Noordheuwel, Featherbrooke, Kenmare, Monument and Pinehaven, through the Chamdor industrial area to Randfontein and Westonaria on the old mining belt, where workshop and plant diesels clock long hours. Lanseria adds the business and logistics parks around Lanseria International Airport and the estates and smallholdings along the R512 and R114.
Towards Muldersdrift, Tarlton and Magaliesburg the land opens into smallholdings and farms, and there the set usually powers a borehole pump, gate motors and an electric fence along with the house. Any motor pulls a heavy surge at the instant it starts, so a service on a plot set is judged by whether it rides through that moment, not by how quietly it idles. Gravel roads add dust, which chokes an air filter well before a suburban set would need one.
All generator repairs and engine overhauls are carried out on site at your premises. A West Rand service is planned while the mains is on: workshop and plant sets between shifts or at the weekend, estate homes once the gate has our names, and plot sets on a day when the pump and gates can be run during the test.
Maintenance contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) are customised for each client. We inspect and assess the generator, its condition, capacity and usage, and your requirements, then quote the plan in writing. There are no fixed packages or prices.

Site types
Where West Rand generators earn their keep
Six kinds of property make up most West Rand servicing, and each one decides what the test run has to prove.
Krugersdorp homes
House canopies and automatic sets in Noordheuwel, Kenmare and Monument, some also carrying a cottage, a pool pump or a home office that needs steady voltage.
Security estates
Featherbrooke and Pinehaven homes, where gate registration comes first and the controller’s exercise timer and stored alarms are part of each visit.
Plots and farms
Muldersdrift and Tarlton sets running the borehole, gates and fencing as well as the house, tested with those motors switched on.
Chamdor workshops
Three-phase diesels behind workshops and light industry, serviced by the hour meter and booked so production is not held up.
Mining-belt plant
Randfontein and Westonaria diesels that run for long stretches, where coolant, fuel delivery and a dusty air filter get the closest look.
Lanseria parks and estates
Standby sets at the business and logistics parks around the airport, and at estates and smallholdings along the R512 and R114.
Plans
West Rand maintenance plans, built around the loads
A plan on the West Rand is less about the engine than about what the engine has to start. These six parts are set for each site.
Assessment first
We look at the set, its condition and its rating, and list what it really runs: the house, a borehole pump, gates, fencing or workshop motors. The plan is written from that list.
A schedule that fits the use
Plot and home sets mostly go by the calendar, workshop and plant sets by running hours. On dusty sites the air filter is looked at on every visit, due or not.
Start tests on real loads
Each planned visit starts the set and then brings on the heavy motors, so you can see whether it holds voltage and speed as the pump cuts in.
Records
You receive a record of the visit: date, running hours, work done, parts fitted, readings and findings, which helps when a new pump or motor is added later.
Between visits
If the generator breaks down between visits, contract clients are scheduled ahead of new callouts.
Notice period
Either side can end a West Rand plan on 30 days’ notice, and work already completed stays payable.
Towns and suburbs we service on the West Rand
Krugersdorp and its suburbs come first, then the industrial and mining-belt towns, then the plots and the Lanseria side. Where a place has its own repair page, the last column links to it; Roodepoort has a servicing page of its own.

|---|---|---|
| Krugersdorp | Standby diesels behind CBD shops and practices | Krugersdorp generator repairs |
| Noordheuwel | Larger family-home sets that also run a cottage and pool pump | Noordheuwel generator repairs |
| Featherbrooke | Automatic sets at security-estate homes | Featherbrooke generator repairs |
| Pinehaven | Automatic standby with exercise timers and alarms to keep right | Pinehaven generator repairs |
| Kenmare | Petrol portables and compact diesel canopies | Kenmare generator repairs |
| Monument | Home and home-office sets where steady voltage matters | Monument generator repairs |
| Rant-en-Dal | Sets on sloping stands, far from the board | Rant-en-Dal generator repairs |
| Chamdor | Workshop and light-industrial three-phase diesels | Covered by Krugersdorp repairs |

Common Questions
West Rand servicing questions
Will a service show whether my generator can still start the borehole pump?
Yes. During the test run we switch the pump on while the set carries its normal load and watch the voltage and engine speed. A pump motor pulls far more current in its first moments than once it is running, so a set that idles happily can stall or sag at that point. If it does, we explain whether the cause is a fault we can fix or a set too small for the pump.
Do you service plot and farm generators around Muldersdrift and Tarlton?
Yes. We come to the property, service the set where it stands and book the visit for a day that suits you, ideally one when the pump, gates and fence can be run during the test. Send directions or a map pin with the booking, because plots can be hard to find.
Does gravel-road dust change how often the air filter needs attention?
Yes. On dusty plots and mining-belt sites the air filter clogs sooner, and a blocked filter makes the engine run rich and smoke. We check it on every service and replace it when it is restricted; an air filter replacement is typically R250 to R700.
How are workshop and plant generators in Chamdor and Randfontein scheduled?
By running hours first. A diesel that works long stretches reaches its service interval well before the calendar does, so we read the hour meter each visit and plan the next one from the engine maker’s figure, booked between shifts or at the weekend. Your own engine’s manual gives the exact figure for your set.
Can you service generators in Featherbrooke, Pinehaven and other Krugersdorp estates?
Yes. Put us on the estate’s contractor list and send the details with the booking. Estate sets are mostly automatic, so the visit also covers the controller’s exercise timer and the cause of any alarm it has stored.
Is Roodepoort part of this page?
No. Roodepoort falls under our Johannesburg coverage and has its own servicing page, built around its older home sets, solar-backup generators and Ruimsig plots. This page covers Krugersdorp and its suburbs, Chamdor, Randfontein, Westonaria, Muldersdrift, Tarlton and Lanseria.
Do you service the petrol generator we keep on the smallholding?
Yes. Many plots keep a petrol portable for short outages or for jobs away from the house. We deal with stale fuel, clean or replace the spark plug and air filter, and check the output. Always run a portable set outdoors, away from windows and doors, because of carbon monoxide.
What does a generator service cost on the West Rand?
A basic service (inspection and fluids) is typically R900 to R1,800, and the free written quote gives the figure for your set before any work starts. The callout fee is only payable if you do not accept the quotation. If you accept the quotation, the callout fee is waived.
