Servicing Ekurhuleni’s factory and warehouse diesels
Ekurhuleni is one of South Africa’s main manufacturing regions, and most of our East Rand servicing is on the prime and standby diesels that keep its plants working. In Wadeville, Elandsfontein, Alrode and Benoni South those sets carry production through long outages; in Jet Park they keep warehouses and loading bays going. A generator that runs for hours at a stretch meets its service interval on the hour meter long before the calendar catches up, so we plan from the running hours and bring a visit forward after a heavy month.
On a factory site the production manager decides when the set can come off line. We agree that window with them, usually between shifts or during a planned stop, and the service fits inside it: the oil and filters due at that interval, a look into the bulk tank for water and sludge, the radiator and coolant after long runs, and a loaded run to see the engine hold its speed.
The towns are the second strand: Edenvale, Bedfordview, Greenstone, the Benoni lake suburbs and Meyersdal in Alberton. Their sets barely move the hour meter, but oil, coolant and diesel still age in the tank, so those visits run to the calendar and finish with an automatic start. All generator repairs and engine overhauls are carried out on site at your premises.
Maintenance contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) are customised for each client. We inspect and assess the generator, its condition, capacity and usage, and your requirements, then quote the plan in writing. There are no fixed packages or prices.

Maintenance plans for East Rand standby and prime sets
An East Rand plan is usually agreed with a production or plant manager, so it is built around the plant’s hours, its stops and the paperwork the business needs.
Assessment with the plant manager
We look at each set, how many hours it runs, what it carries and how the site uses it, and talk through the production calendar before quoting.
Visits by hours and by date
Prime and heavily used sets are scheduled on running hours; standby sets on the calendar. A plan covering both keeps each generator on its own count.
Tests outside shift changes
Start and transfer tests are booked for a moment the production manager chooses, and a transfer that moves the whole plant onto the set is never done without that agreement.
Records for the maintenance file
After every service you have a record of the visit: date, running hours, work done, parts fitted, readings and findings, for audits, insurers and the next shift.
When a set fails between visits
If the generator breaks down between visits, contract clients are scheduled ahead of new callouts.
Ending the arrangement
If the plant closes a line or changes contractor, either party can end the plan with 30 days’ notice.

East Rand servicing questions
Can a Wadeville or Alrode factory generator be serviced between shifts?
Yes, and most are. We agree the window with the production manager, service the set while production is paused or running on mains, and finish with a loaded run before the next shift starts. A transfer of the whole plant onto the generator is only done when you agree to it.
Should an East Rand set be serviced by running hours or by the calendar?
By whichever falls due first, and on the East Rand that usually depends on the site. A prime or heavily used factory set reaches its hour interval first; a Bedfordview or Edenvale home set normally hits the calendar limit first, because its oil, coolant and diesel age while it waits. Your own engine’s manual gives the exact figure for your set.
Do you offer maintenance contracts for Ekurhuleni factories and warehouses?
Yes. Germiston and Alberton factories, Jet Park warehouses and businesses with several sites can each have a plan written after we assess the generators. One contract can cover sets at different addresses, with a separate schedule and record kept for every machine.
Do you check the diesel in a bulk tank during a service?
Yes. Water and sludge settle at the bottom of large tanks that are topped up but seldom emptied, and a long run draws them into the filters. We check for both on a service; if the fuel needs cleaning, fuel system cleaning and polishing is quoted separately, and our price list puts it at R1,500 to R3,500.
Do you service home standby sets in Bedfordview, Edenvale and the Benoni lake suburbs?
Yes. Those sets rarely run, so the service is set by the calendar: oil and filters as due, coolant, the battery and its charger, and the fuel in the tank, then an automatic start and a run with the house load on.

Can you load bank test an industrial generator on the East Rand?
Yes. Where the plant’s own load is too light or too critical to test on, a load bank applies a controlled load in steps while we record voltage, frequency and temperature. Our published price for load bank testing is R2,800 to R5,500; send the set’s kVA rating and we plan the test around it.
Are Germiston, Boksburg, Benoni, Brakpan and Springs all covered?
