Firman
Firman petrol generators used as portable sets and as home or small commercial backup are repaired independently. ProService Generator Repairs is not an authorised Firman centre.

Firman petrol generators are a regular portable and backup set. Some pull-start. Some have a battery and an electric starter as well. ProService Generator Repairs repairs both, without any authorised-service or warranty-centre claim.
The two big complaints are a set that will not start and a set that starts and then produces no usable power. Carburettor and fuel work belongs to the first once the engine is actually turning. AVR and output work belongs to the second.
Routine maintenance is the third visit: oil, filters and fuel that has not been left to varnish between outages. Home backup and small commercial backup are both in that group.
Firman repairs start by watching the start. A recoil that does not turn the crank is not a spark fault. A button that clicks is not a carburettor fault. Once the engine turns, fuel, the plug and the oil switch decide whether it fires.
No-power repairs wait until the engine holds speed. Breakers and sockets are checked before the AVR, because a tripped protector is a common and smaller job.
Parts follow the model and the fault. They are not promised from the brand name.
A Firman service covers oil, the air filter, the plug and both starters if the set has a recoil and a key. The battery is load-checked rather than assumed. Fuel age is recorded.
Backup sets are run long enough to hear whether they settle. A set that only lives on choke is booked as a fuel repair, not signed off as serviced.
Firman petrol faults across portable and backup sets.
Fuel, spark, oil switch, or a starter that never turns the engine.
One starter works and the other does not. Both are on some sets.
Varnish, blocked jets, a set that dies off choke.
Electric start clicks after weeks of sitting.
Engine running, sockets dead or voltage low.
Airflow, oil or a long run on too much load.
A Firman that will not start is split immediately. If the engine does not turn, the recoil or the electric starter is the job. If it turns, fuel, the carburettor, the plug, ignition and low-oil shutdown are the job.
Repeated choked pulls flood the plug. That is checked before the carburettor is stripped, because a wet plug looks like a fuel fault and is cheaper to prove.
Firman carburettor and fuel faults show up after the set has stood. Jets block, the float sticks, and the choke becomes the only way to keep it running. Fuel lines, the filter and the tap are inspected with the carburettor so a restriction upstream is not missed.
Some units clean and return to work. Some are replaced because the body or the diaphragm is finished. That is said on the job, not assumed.
Firman recoil faults are a rope, a pawl and a rewind. Electric-start faults are the battery, the terminals, the charging lead and the starter motor. A set with both can have one healthy side and one failed side. The failed side is the repair.
A battery that is only flat because nothing charged it between outages is reported as a charging problem, not automatically as a new starter.
Firman AVR and no-power faults are diagnosed with the engine running cleanly. No output, low output and output that moves when a load is connected are written separately. Engine speed is checked so a hunting petrol engine is not blamed on the regulator.
Sockets and the set breaker come first. The AVR is next when those are sound and the voltage is still wrong.
Open frames moved for an outage or a job.
House sets left in place.
Shop sets asked to hold a real load.
Pull start inspected on its own.
Battery and starter where fitted.
Firman preventative maintenance is oil, a clean air path, a plug and a battery check on electric-start sets. Fuel that has been standing is dealt with on the same visit. The aim is a set that starts without a ritual of choke and swearing.
Maintenance does not guarantee the next fault will never happen. It removes the stored-fuel and flat-battery failures that are avoidable.
Recoil and electric start are not treated as one part.
Independent Firman petrol support only.
AVR work follows an engine that is no longer hunting.

A time is agreed from the diary. A same-day slot is offered only when one is open, and it is confirmed on the call.

The technician inspects the generator on site and identifies the likely fault or the service that is due.

The findings and the proposed repair or service are explained before parts are changed.

They did a fantastic job overhauling my Firman generator. The mechanic was prompt, professional, and took the time to explain exactly how to maintain the battery properly.

No. The work is independent. There is no authorised, warranty-centre or manufacturer-approved claim.
Yes. The visit first checks whether the engine is turning, then fuel, spark and the oil switch.
Yes. Each starter is tested. A set that has both can have only one of them failed.
Yes. Breakers, wiring and the AVR are checked after the engine is running steadily.
Yes. Fuel flow and the carburettor are inspected. Cleaning or replacement depends on the condition found.
